I started doing ceramics to create dishes for my food photography, and after creating these plates the first time I have a feeling that I will be making more of them. They have a raised-bump pattern on the outside, and burlap texture inside. These were decorated on the inside with a matte turquoise glaze, and the outside was left unglazed.
Soon, when I have my studio finished, I will be testing several different bodies of clay to determine which ones I like best. I like to show the bare clay on some of my work, so it’s important that the clay I end up using has a lot of color and character to it.
